Students Responsibility

To participate in driving lessons with Drive Right, students must meet certain legal and regulatory requirements. Firstly, students must be of legal driving age, which is typically at least 17 years old. All students must possess a valid driving licence. It is necessary for students to permit their instructor to perform a licence check and provide a licence check code if requested, ensuring compliance with DVSA regulations. Additionally, students must inform their instructor of any endorsements or pending endorsements on their licence. For each lesson, students are required to bring their licence, and on the first lesson, they must allow their licence to be checked by the instructor. These steps are crucial to maintaining safety and adherence to legal standards.

Payments for lessons

To secure your driving lessons and services with Drive Right, payments must be made at least 7 days in advance. This policy ensures that we can allocate the necessary resources and schedule your sessions effectively. Timely payments help us maintain a smooth and efficient operation, providing you with the best possible learning experience. Please ensure that your payment is completed within this timeframe to avoid any disruptions or cancellations.

Lesson Cancellation

Our late cancellation policy requires that all lessons be cancelled with at least 48 hours' notice. This allows us to efficiently manage our schedule and offer the slot to other students. Cancellations made within this 48-hour window will not subject to a cancellation fee.

Instructor Cancellation

At Drive Right, there may be instances where your instructor needs to cancel or postpone a lesson. If this happens, no charge will be applied for the canceled lesson. Lessons may need to be rescheduled to accommodate other students' driving tests, ensuring everyone gets their fair chance. Additionally, adverse weather conditions, unexpected car issues like breakdowns or flat tyres, may also necessitate cancellations. In the interest of safety, your instructor has the right to cancel or terminate a lesson at any stage if they believe safety is compromised by the student. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility in these situations.

DVSA Cancellations

Drive Right instructors are not responsible for any cancellations, postponements, or errors caused by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency). While we strive to provide a smooth learning experience, DVSA scheduling or administrative issues are beyond our control. Should any disruptions arise due to DVSA actions, we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work together to reschedule and accommodate your learning needs.

Drug, Alcohol and Tiredness

At Drive Right, it is essential for all students to ensure they are fit and legally able to drive for every lesson. Students must not be under the influence of any prescription medication, illegal drugs, or alcohol when driving. If the instructor suspects that a student is affected by these substances, they reserve the right to cancel the lesson immediately. Additionally, students should be mindful of their overall fitness to drive, as factors like tiredness can significantly impair their ability to concentrate and drive safely. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and adherence to these guidelines is crucial for a successful learning experience.

Mobile Phones

For a safe and focused driving lesson with Drive Right, students must adhere to our mobile phone policy. Before starting your lesson, ensure your phone is set to silent to minimize distractions. Under no circumstances should a mobile phone be used while in the car with the engine running. If you need to keep your phone on or leave the ringer volume on for an urgent call, please inform your instructor beforehand. They will help find a safe and legal place to pull over so you can take the call without compromising safety. This policy helps maintain an environment conducive to learning and safe driving practices.

Damage to Vehicle

At Drive Right, while our tuition vehicles are fully insured for use by students with a valid licence, it's important to understand your responsibilities regarding vehicle care. If a student causes damage to the vehicle through dangerous driving or negligence, they may be required to cover the repair costs. This policy ensures accountability and encourages all students to drive responsibly during their lessons. Remember, maintaining the safety and condition of the vehicle is crucial for both your learning experience and the well-being of others.

Late Arrival

If a student is late to a scheduled lesson, the instructor will wait for up to 15 minutes without any contact. After this period, the instructor will have to leave, and the lesson will be considered missed. Unfortunately, no refund will be given for missed lessons.

Your driving test.

Booking your driving test is your responsibility. Once your test is scheduled, please inform your instructor as soon as possible. If you wish to use the Drive Right car for your test, this decision is ultimately at the discretion of your instructor. To determine eligibility for using the car, a mock test must be conducted at least two weeks prior to your official test. This ensures both your readiness and the suitability of the vehicle for your exam.

After test photos

Drive Right students may be asked for a photo after passing their test, which we may use for marketing purposes. If you prefer not to have your photo taken or used, please inform your instructor, and we will respect your wishes. Your privacy and comfort are important to us, and we appreciate your cooperation.

Pupil Data
At Drive Right, we take your digital data security seriously. Your online data is securely managed by our app provider, Total Drive, through the pupil app, instructor app, or instructor portal. If you have any questions or concerns about how your data is protected, please contact Total Drive directly.

Fines and Penalties

At Drive Right, pupils are responsible for covering any parking fines, penalty charges, or PCN fees incurred when being collected or dropped off if free and legal parking isn't available. Additionally, any fees, tickets, or fines that occur while the vehicle is under the pupil’s use during lessons are the pupil’s responsibility. This policy ensures accountability and helps maintain a smooth operation during your driving experience.

Hourly lesson referral discount

Drive Right offers an hourly referral discount where students can earn £1 off each hour of their lessons for every new student, they refer who joins Drive Right. To maintain this discount, referred students must remain active Drive Right students. If one of your referred students passes their test with Drive Right, you will retain your discount permanently. This is our way of rewarding your support and helping our community grow.

Pre-Purchase Inspection

A Drive Right pre-purchase inspection assesses the vehicle's condition as presented at the time of the inspection. While we aim to provide a thorough evaluation, Drive Right does not take responsibility for any defects or issues that may arise after the inspection. This policy ensures transparency and clarity about the scope and limitations of our inspection service.
